THS HI-STEPPERS SWEEP REGIONALS; WIN TOP AWARD |
|

The Taylor Hi-Steppers swept through Regionals over the weekend competing in six routines and taking six 1st place and 3 Division one trophies against the stiffest competition in the area, according to Director Ashley Sengsouvanh. The Hi-Steppers also receive the TOP award, which was BEST OVERALL in the whole contest! This means that we had the combined highest score out of everyone competing! Taylor has never received this award! Director Sengsouvanh said, “I could not be prouder of this group of young ladies. They work so hard and have been through a lot this year and for them to come out on top was memory that will last a lifetime.” We traveled to Leander High School to compete against some of the best teams in the area. This competition is not divided up by size so we were up against multiple 5A teams and we were the second smallest team there. Just to put it in perspective, we competed against fantastic squads from Pflugerville, Leander, Rouse, and the list goes on.
You will be proud to know that we entered six routines (4 team and 2 officer) and every single dance brought home a Division 1 trophy. This means that they received above a 90 from every judge on every routine! The officers swept the competition winning first place in officer Jazz and officer Modern. The team also did awesome bringing home 1st place in Team Pom, Team Modern, Team Hip Hop, and Team Military. The girls have been working hard and it is really paying off!
According to Sengsouvanh, "This is just the beginning of our contest season, we have two more to go! We have State competition on Feb. 21st at McNeil High School. We will then be headed to Houston the first weekend in March." Please come out and support your favorite dance team! |
