To enable each of the campuses to host their own Student Showcase this year, the Taylor ISD Administration has changed dates and times for the popular annual event. However, the district will still have its scheduled Early Release on Thursday, March 11 ... followed by a Bad Weather holiday on Friday, March 12th.

"We want to allow each of our campuses the opportunity to demonstrate and showoff their student's classroom experience," said Superintendent Dr. Bruce Scott. "For that reason, we will have a series of student showcase events beginning March 1st and parents should not expect the typical Open House setting. This was something our staff and principals have asked us to do and the Board has agreed with their request."
While plans include a return to the original Student Showcase event at Taylor High School next year, this year's Celebrate Success efforts will begin Monday, March 1st at Naomi Pasemann Elementary from 6:30-8:00 p.m. With the annual March emphasis on Public Education, the showcase events promise to put forth another strong local effort with Northside holding its showcase on Tuesday, March 2nd (6-7:30 p.m.) and T.H. Johnson Elementary hosting a showcase on Thursday, March 4th from 6-7:30 p.m.
Taylor High School Principal Danny Ward and Middle School Principal Richard Kolek have announced that their showcase efforts will be on Tuesday, March 9th from 6-8 p.m. (TMS) and 7-8:30 p.m. (THS). "There are conflicts almost every night during the Spring," said Ward. "Picking a night without conflicts was impossible, but we will do our best to allow parents and taxpayers an inside look into our classrooms and our curriculm." Both campuses hope to be joined by several partners. Kolek has invited Duck University and Legacy Early College High School to participate in the TMS event, while Ward will be extending an invitation to all of his higher education partners. "We also expect to have our counselors hosting a college financial program and providing parents with important information concerning post secondary educational opportunities," said Ward. While there will be no early release on the new dates of the Taylor ISD Student Showcases, the district will follow its current calendar with regard to its March 11th Early Release. Schools will dismiss between 12 noon and 12:45 p.m. with buses running as previously scheduled and the district will also enjoy a Friday, March 12th Bad Weather hoiiday. That falls just prior to the scheduled Spring Break. Campuses will be sending home showcase invitations and automated phone call messages and emails concerning the showcase efforts and more information on their individual schedules. |
