THS CLASS OF 2010 CELEBRATES MILESTONE
The Taylor High School class of 2010 graduated Friday at the Williamson County Special Events Center. Among the diverse 222 members are students headed to college, trade schools, jobs, the military, parenthood and a future of multi-tasking.
Kyshara Jenkins said she thought "the day would never get here..." as she prepared to embark on the next chapter of her life.
Taylor High School awarded over $100,000 in 116 local scholarship to seniors Thursday, May 13th at its Annual Evening Awards Program, according to THS counselors and Principal Danny Ward. "It was a great night," said Ward. "The Taylor community as a whole really steps up for this effort. We are all very thankful and proud of the support for students and from the donors." Tickets for Friday's Taylor Ducks vs Vandegrift Vipers have arrived and will be on sale Friday at the Taylor ISD Central Office, the Taylor Middle School and the Taylor High School.
Adult tickets are $7 in advance and student tickets are $3. All tickets at the gate will be $7.00.

Taylor Athletic Director Rick Cobia has announced another change in this week's scheduled games affecting Taylor's 9th grade and JV football squads.
Thursday, September 2nd, the JV will play Leander Vandegrift here in Taylor at Memorial Field at 6 pm, while the 9th grade will travel to Leander Vandegrift for a 7 pm contest.

THS TENNIS JUMPS HENDRICKSON; 11-8
THS Tennis Coach Vicki Hall has announced that her Ducks tennis team is off to a fats 2-0 start on the Fall Season after beating Pflugerville Hendrickson by a narrow 11-8 margin Monday.
The Ducks netters won their initial match of the season by a 106 margin over Leander. GO TEAM !!
LADY DUCKS BEATEN AT HOME
Coach Holly Turnbough's Lady Ducks volleyball squad saw their season record dip to 7-7 Tuesday when the visiting Thrall Lady Tigers upset Taylor's winning efforts by claiming a four-set victory in the THS gym.
The Lady Ducks fell behind early losing 26-24 and 25-22 in the first two sets. Taylor rallied to win the third set by a 25-22 margin, but lost their momentum as Thrall won the fourth set 25-18.
The Lady Ducks now regroup for Thursday's trip to Hays High School for an invitational tournament. Play will continue there on Saturday. Game times to be announced!
CROSS COUNTRY OPENS IN TEMPLE
Taylor Cross Country Coach Shelli Cobb took 34 runners to Temple for the year's first meet held at the Sammons Golf Course and says "she was pleased" with the squad's efforts.
Alex Garcia (12:59-30th) and Katie Bryant (13:16-42nd) paced the seven Taylor Varsity Girl's efforts in a field of 120 runners, while Courtney Fields (14:32-45th) and Vanessa Castaneda (15:01-62nd) led the Lady Ducks' eight entries in the 160 runner JV Girls Field.
In Boy's action, the Ducks varsity boys ran in a field of 146 runners with David Salazar (16:44-25th) and Elric Martinez (17:01-39th) leading the local team of seven entries. In JV action, the Ducks best efforts came from Edgar Carrera (18:29-16th) and Albert Vasquez (18:40-17th) in a field of 175 runners.
Taylor's Cross Country squad heads to Lockhart this Saturday.
DUCKS FALL IN OPENER, 45-7
Coach Rick Cobia's Taylor Ducks fell to Bryan Rudder in their 2010 season opener Friday at Memorial Field as the Rangers rolled to an impressive 45-7 victory.
Taylor QB Jarvis Caldwell scampered 25 yards for the Ducks' lone touchdown at the midway point of the 4th quarter.
Rudder's Rangers, playing with their first senior class, scored early on a 30-yd field goal by Division I recruit Will Johnson. The Rangers added six TD's to light up the scoreboard, while holding the Ducks to just over 100 yards offense.
Taylor travels to Leander Vandegrift on Friday before returning home to host the Elgin Wildcats (Sept. 10th) and Manor Mustangs (Sept. 17th. All kickoffs at 7:30 pm.
TISD HIRES TASB SEARCH FIRM
At a special called meeting last week, the Taylor ISD Board of Trustees selected the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services division to conduct the district's search for a new Superintendent.
The cost of the search committee has been erroneously reported by local media as $79,000, when in fact it will cost an estimated $7,900.
