The Voyager Project will refine student’s reading, math, and science skills for increased performance on STAAR, by providing authentic learning experiences that motivate and excite them. Each day will offer students the opportunity to have hands on academic instruction and engaging enrichment activities in the field of Transportation. These enrichment opportunities will include visits to local airports, train stations, and bus terminals as well as guest speakers from the various fields of transportation.
Classes will consist of one teacher per 15 students to allow for small group instruction. Computers will deliver a technology based curriculum for a personalized learning experience matched to each learner’s individual pace through an engaging digital format.
The first day of the Voyager Project begins on October 11, 2016 and will last until May 24, 2017. Voyager Project will operate Monday through Friday beginning immediately afterschool until 5:00 p.m. In order to receive maximum benefits from the program students will stay through the entirety of the lessons afterschool. A snack will be served and transportation home will be available to students.
The Voyager Project is made available through the KDK-Harman Foundation Grant
with the collaboration of Taylor ISD assisting with funding the project.
