Weather Alert News

Update 2-17-21
Our top priority is the physical and mental well-being of our students, families, and staff.  After meeting with emergency response agencies, Taylor ISD has decided to close school buildings on Thursday, February 18th, and Friday, February 19th.  No remote instruction will take place.  We know utilities, groceries, and travel will continue to be concerns for all as freezing weather continues through Friday afternoon.

A warming center is now open at the Taylor ISD Events Center, 3101 North Main Street, located close to the central office building and Main Street Intermediate School.  Please note hours are limited and we do not currently have running water.  There are portable toilets available for use.  More details from the City of Taylor are available here.

Thank you to all the Taylor ISD staff and community members helping to take care of their fellow neighbor.  Challenges like these show the character of this great community.

UPDATE 2-16-21
Classes for Wednesday, February 17th, and Thursday, February 18th, are cancelled due to continued power concerns. We hope to offer in-person school on Friday, but that will depend on facilities and electricity. We will not be able to assess these until we get past Wednesday's weather. We know many families are without water utilities and power for warmth. Taylor ISD is partnering with the City of Taylor and Williamson County Emergency Services to support our community. Please stay safe.

UPDATE 2-15-21, 2:15pm

Taylor ISD has decided it is in the best interest of students and staff to close school on Wednesday (2/17/21) instead of  remote learning. Many families are experiencing power outages, which means cell phones, computers, and internet service will not work.  Completing school work will be impossible in some homes. It is very likely these conditions will continue past Wednesday.  We will communicate about Thursday and Friday as soon as possible.  Please stay safe.

UPDATE 2-15-21:
Taylor ISD is moving to remote learning and canceling all events through Wednesday, February 17th. Principals will collaborate with teachers to provide additional details in the next day. Our priority this week is to show grace and understanding to our families. We know power and internet outages may occur. We will make a decision about Thursday no later than Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide drive through meals to families during the closure of buildings. Stay Safe!
