Taylor ISD Families,
We hope this message reaches you safe and warm today. After attending a conference call with the Williamson County Office of Emergency Management, it is clear that roads will remain iced over with freezing temperatures until Saturday afternoon. For this reason, we are closing schools for Friday, February 4th.
Friday is a "bad weather day," so there will be no extracurricular events taking place. Our athletics department will communicate about potential rescheduling.
As we shared in our last message, we have minutes built into our calendar for events such as this. The State of Texas also issues waivers to school districts when events impact the entire state. For these reasons, we do not anticipate the need to make up these days at the end of the year.
We do not take the decision to close schools lightly because we prioritize the growth and learning of our students. Thank you for your understanding and please reach out if we can assist you. If you are in need of support for basic needs during the storm (food, water, etc.) Shepherd's Heart Foot Pantry (512-352-5553) is ready to provide support to your family.
