In support of teacher efforts to plan for the best possible experience for our students and to conduct parent meetings, we are adjusting the school year calendar to provide teachers more time during the school and work day. Being a teacher is a very challenging job in 2022 and one of the most significant challenges teachers have is time. Normally, teachers have 45 minutes in a school day to grade homework, communicate with parents, and attend meetings. We have seen teachers stay late into the evening and come to work on weekends to plan lessons. Once we received this feedback, we decided to take an immediate response. As a school district, we must find ways to help teachers get some time back.
The following dates will be two-hour early release dates for every school except Legacy Early College.
- October 12th
- October 19th
- November 9th
Our elementary schools will communicate with parents about supervision plans and we will provide supervision in the instances where childcare is difficult for families. Additionally, transportation will be available at the elementary schools both at early dismissal and at the regular dismissal time if parents are not able to supervise their children.
Teachers and staff are your greatest asset. This is part of the district's effort to retain high quality teachers and we appreciate your support.
