Vision
The Bilingual/ESL program at Taylor ISD is committed to the biliteracy, biculturalism, and bilingualism of all its English Learners.
Mission
Taylor ISD supports the affective, linguistic, and academic needs of bilingual learners and families as we develop biliteracy, biculturalism and bilingualism in an inclusive environment.
The Taylor ISD Bilingual Programs include a full time Dual language One-Way Program and an ESL Pull-Out Program.Taylor ISD Bilingual Program is a full time Dual Language (DL1) Immersion/One Way biliteracy program. The DL program is required to be offered to native Spanish speakers qualifying as Limited English Proficient (LEP), also referred to as English Learners (ELs). All Spanish ELs will be offered the DL 1-way program. The DL 1-Way Program enables ELs to learn both academic Spanish and academic English. The Bilingual Program's goals are to provide the educational environment and instruction that will allow students to become bilingual, biliterate and bicultural; develop fluency in communication and literacy in both English and Spanish; and, increase academic achievement in all areas.Taylor ISD ESL Pull-Out Program enables English Learners to become competent in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing English. It provides ELs with equal educational access benefits and gives ELs the opportunity to experience early academic success while they learn English as a second language. The ESL Pull-Out Program is offered when a Bilingual program in the student's native language is not offered.More information and resources coming soon!Contact:Clarissa RodriguezAssistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning(512)365-1391
