THS Culinary Instructor Chosen for FCSTAT Board

Congratulations to Taylor High School culinary instructor, Chef Mike Erickson, on being appointed to the 2023-24 Board of Directors for The Family Consumer Sciences Teachers Association (FCSTAT) for 2023-2024!
(Austin,TX) - The Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association (FCSTAT) is pleased to announce the appointment of new members for its 2023-2024 Board of Directors. FCSTAT is the only professional organization dedicated solely to representing family and consumer sciences educators in Texas.
Joining the FCSTAT Board of Directors is Chef Mike Erickson, an FCS Teacher for Taylor ISD and works at Taylor High School.
FCSTAT Board of Directors actively promotes and encourages membership with the District, Region, and State. They act as the liaison between FCSTAT members and their respective districts.
Chef Mike Erickson's role as a Board Director gives him the experience and professional development that he needs to focus on the FCS leadership, membership, and to advocate on behalf of FCS Professionals. Chef Mike is a passionate educator and supporter of all things family and consumer sciences in Career and Technical Education. He has help several Board positions in the past, is a FCCLA Advisor, culinary arts professional, and founded a Nation-wide Barbecue competition around education, family, and project based learning using barbecue. He is a huge believer that every High School Student in Texas should take a cooking class as part of their high school experience which is a skill for life, like all fcs classes. FCS classes focus on growing great well rounded young people that become incredible citizens and can be self-sufficient after graduation no matter what their career path. We are excited about Chef Mike joining our team!
The mission of the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas is to contribute to the professional and personal development of member economists and to the betterment of public education in Texas; to expand public knowledge and understanding of family and consumer sciences education and to represent the profession as a whole where the image, expertise and scope of FCSTAT prove useful.
