Pasemann, Temple College Launch Partnership
Temple College is launching a new Adopt-A-School program with five elementary schools in its service area. In Taylor, they are partnering with Pasemann Elementary, and today they began the new adventure with a ribbon cutting at the school.
“I am excited about bringing opportunities to these students and creating space for college or whatever choices they want to make for their future,” said Billie Logiudice, External Relations/HSI STEM Advisor, Temple College. “I’m excited about coming in and being a part of what they have going on and showing them that college is an option.”
Temple College’s goal is to help create a college-going culture among students. College staff members plan to help with several activities the school has planned during the year, including supporting STEM activities and helping out as volunteers for various events.
“We are looking forward to the collaboration and promoting higher education,” said Pasemann Principal, Cynthia Proctor. “Building those student capacities with the understanding that they are capable of doing anything they put their minds to. Later in the year we are planning a field trip to the main campus in Temple.”
Today’s ribbon cutting brought the two schools together for a celebration led by student ambassadors. College staff presented a banner to the school to commemorate the partnership and gave away decorated cookies and a few fun items with the college logo.
“We are a community college,” said Logiudice. “And we want to be a part of the community.“
