STAAR is the state’s testing program and is based on state curriculum standards in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.

STAAR tests are designed to measure what students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. The goal is to ensure that all students receive what they need to be academically successful. Meeting these individual student needs depends greatly on schools, parents, and community members working together.

This year, the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) STAAR and STAAR EOC assessment process has changed. The state will be analyzing the data from student assessments to determine the appropriate cut scores that determine passing and a student’s proficiency level before it is shared with districts.  This means we will not know if a student has passed the STAAR or STAAR EOC assessment until a later date than usual. High school STAAR EOC performance levels will not be available until May 31st, and elementary and middle school STAAR performance levels will not be available until August 11th .
