Taylor ISD is proud to announce the first phase of a two-part compensation plan for the 2025-2026 school year that prioritizes supporting teachers, staff, and continued excellence in education. With the recent passage of House Bill 2, leaders are using this opportunity to not only comply with state requirements, but go a step further in supporting all teachers and staff members.
At the June 23 board meeting, trustees approved a balanced budget of $43.8 million that incorporates phase one of the compensation plan and outlines pay increases for all teachers, including those covered under HB 2.
Under HB 2, districts with fewer than 5,000 students are receiving funds to provide $4,000 salary increases for teachers with three and four years of experience and $8,000 for those with five or more years. Taylor ISD will fully implement these state-funded increases.
Additionally, the board approved raises for all teachers with zero to two years of experience, a group not included in HB2. Starting teacher salaries will increase by $1,500, bringing the new base salary for teachers with zero years of experience to $53,500. Teachers with one or two years of experience will receive a $1,750 raise. These adjustments reflect the district’s commitment to ensuring all teachers, regardless of experience, are supported and valued.
"I am deeply grateful for the continued support of our Board of Trustees. They passed a balanced budget and raises for our teachers, a large part of the foundation for all the work we do. Our trustees always search for how to best take care of those who take care of our future - the students who come through our doors every day,” Dr. Jennifer Garcia-Edwardsen said. “We look forward to coming back in July with compensation updates for all our non-teaching positions.”
As part of phase one, the district also updated stipends for the 2025-2026 school year, adding new stipends for campus-based special education teachers, and select fine arts groups. Competitive staff salaries and stipends at every position continue to be a top priority as the district plans for the future.
The board also approved a $40 increase to the district’s monthly health insurance contribution, raising the employee-only coverage amount to $500 for all full-time staff. This ensures all employees participating in the district’s plan are not affected by rate increases.
Phase two of the compensation plan, which will be brought before the board in July, will address compensation for all employees not included in the first phase, including all non-teaching staff, including nurses, librarians, counselors, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, maintenance and operations staff, and the administrative professional team.
These compensation updates reflect Taylor ISD’s ongoing commitment to remaining competitive. By strategically using both state and local resources, the district is working to ensure that every staff member feels valued, supported, and set up for success.
