Homeless Assistance / McKinney Vento Program

Are You Experiencing Homelessness?

Is your family facing housing instability? You may qualify for additional support.

  • Are you and your TISD student(s) living with a relative or friend? doubled up?
  • Are you staying in a shelter?
  • Are you living in a hotel, motel, tent, or car?
  • Are you moving frequently due to housing challenges?
  • Is this due to loss of income?

Your Children Have the Right To:

  • Receive a free, appropriate public education
  • Enroll immediately, even without required documents
  • Attend a local school or stay in their school of origin
  • Receive transportation to and from their school of origin
  • Access educational services comparable to other students

You may be eligible for the McKinney-Vento Program, which provides essential support—including free school meals and other services.
