Legacy ECHS senior earns prestigious Smith Hutson Scholarship

Taylor ISD and Legacy ECHS are proud to announce that senior Andrea Camarena Guzman has been named a recipient of the prestigious Smith Hutson Scholarship.
Selected from a highly competitive pool of thousands of applicants, Andrea will receive a comprehensive award that covers nearly all costs of her undergraduate education. The Smith Hutson Scholarship is one of the most generous and sought-after awards for students in the region. Unlike traditional financial aid, the program is designed to provide a holistic support system, covering approximately 90-95% of all college expenses for a full four-year term. This allows recipients to focus entirely on their academic and professional growth without the burden of significant student debt.
"It is not only a scholarship, but it also tries its best to form a sense of community with all of the scholars who obtain the scholarship," Andrea said. "It is meant to really help students make connections and not have to worry about the financial aspect of it."
Beyond the financial support, the Smith Hutson Scholarship is renowned for its commitment to mentorship and networking. Scholars are integrated into a close-knit community of high-achieving peers, providing them with a built-in professional network from their very first day on campus. Andrea plans to attend Sam Houston State University in the fall to study Business Administration.
