Legacy Early College High School continues to rise among the top-performing high schools in Texas and the Austin area, making significant gains in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.

Legacy ECHS is now ranked No. 11 in the Austin metro area, moving up 23 spots from No. 34 in 2025.  

The school also made a significant jump to No. 121 among all Texas high schools, climbing 225 spots from its previous ranking of No. 346.

Nationally, Legacy ECHS is ranked No. 934 out of 17,945 ranked high schools. 

“This recognition reflects the high expectations our students and staff set for themselves every day,” said Legacy Early College High School Principal Erika Cantwell. “Our students are taking on the challenge of rigorous high school and college coursework, and our staff continues to provide the support and encouragement they need to succeed. We are incredibly proud of our Phoenix and how far they continue to go.”

U.S. News & World Report evaluates high schools using measures that include student performance on state assessments, graduation rates, college readiness and college-level coursework.

The new U.S. News & World Report rating comes on the heels of Legacy ECHS earning another A-rating from the Texas Education Agency’s accountability system, with a score of 96. The school earned A ratings in all three accountability domains, including student achievement, school progress, and closing the gaps. 

Legacy ECHS also earned three state-level academic distinctions along with its TEA rating: 

• Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts
• Top 25% Comparative Academic Growth
• Postsecondary Readiness

The latest rankings and TEA rating add to a year of strong academic results for Legacy ECHS, as students continue working toward the opportunity to graduate from high school with significant college credit and, for many, an associate degree.
