Taylor ISD students will have expanded opportunities to explore robotics, engineering, and technology thanks to a generous $100,000 donation from the Taylor Economic Development Corporation supporting robotics programs at Taylor High School and Legacy Early College High School.

The investment will help Legacy ECHS build on the success of its first year of competitive robotics, which included an appearance at the state robotics tournament. Funding will support improvements to equipment, engineering documentation, project management, and overall competition readiness.

At Taylor High School, the donation will help launch a sustainable competitive robotics program by providing equipment, materials, safety resources, and the structure needed to recruit students and build the program for long-term success.

“This gift from the Taylor Economic Development Corporation is a tremendous investment in our students' futures. It will directly support our robotics competition teams at Taylor High School and Legacy Early College High School, covering everything from materials and training to competition entry fees,” said Taylor ISD Chief Academic Officer Megan Zembik. “We're especially excited that this funding allows Legacy to launch a new drones division, giving even more students hands-on experience with the technical skills that are shaping tomorrow's workforce. We're grateful for the EDC's continued partnership and belief in our students.”

Through robotics, students can gain hands-on experience in engineering, coding, electronics, fabrication, design, marketing, presentation, and teamwork. These skills connect directly to growing career fields including advanced manufacturing, automation, aerospace, and technology.
